The Laguna PowerFlo Skimmer Filter is a high performance surface skimming filter that provides the ultimate water management solution for large ponds up to 19,000 litres.

It is designed to make your water gardening experience simple and enjoyable. Tangible benefits include clear and healthy pond water, low maintenance, and a pleasant water garden environment.

The unit features 3 large capacity chambers that can accommodate special filter pads as well as biological and chemical filtering media. All chambers include a handle for easy removal and cleaning. The first chamber is super-sized and designed to collect leaves and large debris. As water flows through the chambers, it is thoroughly cleansed and filtered. The result is clean and healthy pond water for fish and plants to thrive in.

Other features include a self-adjusting floating door that helps prevent fish from being drawn inside, ample space for pump installation, a winterizing and water drain, and heavy-duty construction with reinforced lid.

A mechanical filter pad and Laguna Biospheres biological filter media are also included.

Filter selection

To choose the ideal filter for any pond you must first know the correct flow through the filter to maintain ideal water quality for your pond. (Please remember that the pond size alone does not determine the filter or pump size without first taking into account the many environmental and physical factors)

Suitable pumps for Laguna Skimmer Filters????????????

Most suitable pumps**

Oase Aquamax 2000
ProjectEasy Jet 1500
ProjectEasy Jet 2400

What makes a pump that is specifically designed for sending water to a filter (such as the pumps above) superior to a multi purpose pump such as Pondmate or Hydrapond.
1) The cage design is turtle shell shaped to attract solids from 360 degrees   2) These pumps are intended to run 24/7 year after year
3) They have a vortex impeller capable of handling solids without blocking

Other workable pumps**

ProjectEasy Jet 2400
Pondmate 1500
ProjectEasy Jet 3000
Pondmate 2400

**Special note, if using a waterfall or a long hose between pump and filter the pump will need to be larger to allow for the reduced flow caused by the head (pumping height, and/or hose length)   If in doubt Fill in one of our e-mail help forms and let us do all the calculations for you.

 Aussie's additional thoughts

Tip  1: Place the pump at the opposite end of the pond to the water return, and in the deepest part of the pond.

Tip 2: Interpet offer a chemical to prime filter systems, a great way to hasten biological activity. Pond Bio start

Tip 3: If in doubt always choose a pump with less than the maximum recommended flow and less than the recommended head height (see point 5). Within reason the slower the water passes over the UV lamp and through the filter the better the result. However, you can never have too much pond flow, so, by having a slightly oversize pump and releasing water directly back into the pond or on to a feature or waterfall through a "Tee" with a flow valve, added circulation is provided for the pond.
