When water temperature is below 10 degrees C, feed only 2 - 3 times per week and only as much as your fish consume with approximately three minutes.
In Winter time, you may find feeding will only be needed 1 to 2 times per week. As their metabolisim slow down. Their gut and their ability to convert fish food also slows down. Fish foods higher in fat are better at this is energy to fish, just like it is energy for us humans.
How much to feed:
In summer time, Gold fish and Koi fish will over eat if you let them, this can cause them health issues and deaths from over eating. Best rule of thumb is only feed them as much as the size of their eyes at one time. Most fish can be fed several times per day, but give them plenty of time between feeds.
